São Paulo, May, 2023 – Aegea Saneamento, the leading private company in the sector, recorded pro forma net revenue, i.e., considering its non-consolidated associated company Águas do Rio, of R$2.4 billion in the first quarter of 2023, an increase of 15.3% from the same period last year. On the same comparison basis, EBITDA came to R$1.1 billion, increasing 16.1% from 1Q22.

Other highlights:

  • Investments of R$2.2 billion through the ecosystem of companies managed by Aegea, up 95.9% from last year;
  • PPP Agreement signed with Block 1 of CAGECE, benefiting over 1.1 million people.

During the period, the number of households served by the ecosystem of companies managed by Aegea came to 8.3 million, up 11.9% from 1Q22, with a total of 381.5 million cubic meters of billed water and sewage, increasing 13.2% from the previous year. These numbers include the non-consolidated concessionaire Águas do Rio.

From the ESG viewpoint, the Company received the international Blue Dot certification given by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in collaboration with the governments of the United States, Japan and Australia. The certification, which was granted to four projects in the whole world, attests to the positive economic, social and environmental impacts made by Águas do Rio, especially the improvement of the health of millions of people through universal access to sanitation, contribution to environmental restoration and generation of thousands of local jobs.

In the last 12 months, we invested R$2.1 billion through the ecosystem of companies managed by Aegea, an increase of 95.9% from the previous year, and prioritized the hiring of local manpower and suppliers.

Acquisitions and PPPs:

In January, Brazil’s antitrust authority CADE approved, without restrictions, the acquisition of up to 100% of the total capital of Companhia Riograndense de Saneamento (Corsan) by Aegea and investment managers Perfin and Kinea. The Company is awaiting the outcome of judicial decisions to sign the Share Purchase Agreement and closing the operation.

On February 3, Aegea signed a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement with Companhia de Água e Esgoto do Estado do Ceará (CAGECE) and began assisted operations in Block 1 of the Metropolitan Regions of Fortaleza and Cariri through the new concessionaire Ambiental Ceará, benefiting over 1.1 million people.
